Hi All - I am an accomplished Aussie ultrarunner (PBs: 24h track 161.27 miles, 48h track 269.54 miles, 100K trail 8:00, WS100 20:30) that is coming over to New York next month (my first time to visit New York) to do the Sri Chinmoy 6 Day race near Flushing Meadow. I did have a friend from California lined up as crew and bought the airfares etc (lots of $$) and he has now had to pull out. I can probably self crew reasonably well though it could get messy after 2 or 3 days of not much sleep and several hundred miles in the legs! If anyone on this forum is interested in helping out at the race, even if it is only for a part of any day I would be eternally grateful. Alternatively, if anyone knows some good local contacts to further pursue getting some help then please let me know. Finally, if anyone can spare some floor space for maybe one night pre-race that would be an extra bonus. I will be arriving into JFK the nite of 18 April and the race goes from April 22 (noon) to April 28 (noon). This is my second attempt at 6 Days- last year I pulled out at the 70 hour mark with 302 miles but left Achilles blown out. I learnt plenty of lessons and hopefully can get through the whole 6 Days this time.
cheers
Martin "Flyer"

Martin, I just saw your message. Are you still in need of help, or a place to stay? I'm coming back from Boston the 18th (don't know what time) but I have a futon you can have. I live in northern Manhattan. I might be able to do some crewing for you as well. Impressive results - that was Surgeres where you kicked a**, right? I ran there myself a few years ago.

Hi Phil Thanks for the reply. I keenly followed your Surgeres race a few years back and was inspired to see you on the podium against the strong Japanese runners. I think I also saw you at one of the World 24h challenges (Drummondville or Seoul?) I believe- I was part of the Aussie team. I am still following up a few leads for places to stay but just in case things fall through it would be great to have your details and to meet up anyway for coffee and a lowdown on NY. I am mentally prepared now to self crew but any help at anytime during the race would be appreciated - especially from someone as experienced as yourself. Might be best to exchange contact details offline at: flyerultra@gmail.com regards Martin
